Brew at the Zoo

Nashville Zoo, 3777 Nolensville Pike

It’s time to party like a monkey and drink like a fish. More than 100 craft brews will be on tap at the annual Brew at the Zoo, an adults-only safari through the hoppy landscape of America’s top-tier beer culture. (Did that make sense? We can’t be sure. We’re already feeling the buzz.)

East Side Hootenanny

East Park, 700 Woodland St.

The bands aren’t the only rockstars at this weekly throwdown in East Park. Food vendors like Edley’s Bar-B-Que and local brewers like Yazoo do their fair share of rockin’ out, too. The whole event is free, although we’d recommend bringing some beer money, along with your sunblock and dancing shoes.

“King Kong vs. Godzilla”

The Belcourt Theatre, 2102 Belcourt Ave.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to. Originally envisioned as a cinematic fight between Godzilla and Frankenstein, this Japanese film from 1962 is the most successful Godzilla movie of all time. The special effects are overblown, the acting is terrible... and movie is absolutely wonderful. Thank you, Belcourt, for bringing back one of the classics.
