When we came across Angelo’s Picnic Pizza with its motto “Real Italians = Real Pizza,” we knew we had to check it out. And, oh man, are we glad we did. So. Dang. Cheesy. And saucy. And ooey-gooey good..Around here, pizza is something we take pretty seriously. So, when we came across Angelo’s Picnic Pizza with its motto “Real Italians = Real Pizza,” we knew we had to check it out. And, oh man, are we glad we did. In ’76, the LaMattina family came to Nashville and opened their little mom ‘n pop pizza shop/Italian restaurant. Using premium cheeses, family recipes and handmade everything, this neighborhood spot offers hand tossed/sicillian-style pizza, calzones, sandwiches and pasta. Meat lovers will want to check out the Double Crust Supreme pizza, which features several carnivorous treats stuffed between two layers of crust and two layers of cheese (who doesn’t like two layers of cheese?). And those who have can't decide what to get off the menu will love Angelo’s daily lunch buffet. A one-stop time during which we can sample a little bit of everything? Yes, please.
