“I’m not just here to help people see better, I’m also here to help them look better and feel better about their own appearance." - Dr. Divya BhaktaGlasses. Frames. Shades. Specs. Anything you want to call ‘em, there’s no denying that they are an essential part of anyone’s lifestyle. Whether you’re donning a pair to better see the world around you, to protect against the bright sun (or your bright future), or simply because you feel like trying out that hipster-chic look (hey -- you can pull it off!), great-looking frames are a non-negotiable. After all, beauty is on the eyes of the beholder...or something like that.
Enter Eyedeology, a modern, sleek glasses boutique nestled in the heart of Midtown. Dr. Divya Bhakta and the quirky, energetic folks here will make you feel right at home among the hundreds of uber-cool shades from designers like Tom Ford, Ray-Ban, Tory Burch and Prada. They’re more than happy to let you play glasses dress-up to your heart’s content -- the Opticam, a state-of-the-art contraption tucked discreetly to the right of the register, exists precisely for that purpose. Here, you can compare and contrast your face under four different frames at the same time (don’t worry about looking less than perfect, though -- as Sandy, the store’s office manager, announced during our visit, Eyedeology is a proudly “judgement-free zone”). And, with an optometrist on staff every day and a brand-new Optos machine on the way that allows for a clear picture of the retina without pesky pupil dilation, you can kiss those annoying visits to the clinic goodbye. We can guarantee that your old eye doctor isn’t anywhere near as fun as the Eyedeology crew. Plus, let’s be honest: anyone who tells us we can pull off those cat’s-eye glasses we’ve secretly been yearning for are winners in our book.
